The Market@Masdar City is Abu Dhabi’s newest street fair, held in the heart of Masdar City, one of the most sustainable developments in the world. The fair brings artists, organic products, food stalls, spa treatments and entertainment, offering visitors a fun opportunity to experience what life is like in a real eco-city – right here in Abu Dhabi!

While the focus is on organic and eco-foods, products and services, as well as extensive children’s entertainment and exploring the beautiful eco-architecture of the city, one of the most exciting aspects of the day is riding in the futuristic, driverless Public Rapid Transit (PRT) vehicles. At the touch of a button, the electric-powered PRT carries visitors between the parking lot and the fair location at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology campus, located in the heart of Masdar City.

The fair will have a raffle draw with prizes, while younger visitors will be entertained with screenings of children’s films, children’s workshops, games, balloonists, handicrafts and face painting, as well as live performances from clowns, magicians and bubble makers.

In addition to the festival stalls, visitors will be able to enjoy Masdar City’s existing restaurants, shops and cafes, which include Organic Foods and Café, Caribou Coffee and Sumo Sushi & Bento. A number of service providers, including Aramex, Abu Dhabi National Bank, Etisalat, Modern National Laundry, Omeir Travel Agency and National Health Insurance Company – Daman, also operate from Masdar City.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the city’s design, which blends contemporary and traditional Arabian architecture and employs innovations in passive design and green building materials. As a result, the city offers a naturally cooler outdoor environment – as much as 20 degrees cooler – with its narrow streets, and shaded sidewalks and colonnades. Visitors also will be able to see and learn about the city’s ‘green’ landmarks, including the soaring Wind Tower and softly angled Knowledge Centre.
